Salomon sense ride 4 reviews pro#
In wet conditions I would call the grip of the Salomon Contragrip average (relates to all Salomons I ran: Ultra Glide, Sense Pro Max, Sense Ride 1), there are worse (Nike comes in mind), but there are quite some better outsoles (Vibram, Continental, PWRTRAC, etc.) There seems to be a trend to write reviews without any running in different conditions and enough mileage to judge durability, which is starting to make "all" shoes durable and grippy.Ĭomments: The Sense Ride is my go-to trail shoe since the Sense Ride 2. Therefore I need to question every review which praises the grip, as only dry grip is excellent. Overall I am very pleased with the shoe and would absolutely purchase again.Ĭomments: Can only comment on the Sense Ride 3 I just recently bought, but outsole is the same. None of these negatives are dealbreakers. Not a half size but mayb e a 1/4 size in my case. I mentioned that they fit OK for me, well they seem to run a little big. (I loved that shoe) When these things get wet they stay wet, for days.

Maybe steal the rockplate from the now discontinued Ultra-Pro. Could use a bit more underfoot protection as there is a bit too much ground feel when running on sharp shale covered trails. What I don't like: That stupid quick lace thingy, I'm on the verge of cutting it out and lacing conventionally. Fit is pretty good for me and upper is very comfortable, even after a few hours of running. The shoe feels decent on pavement and hardpack when connecting trails. Grips wet rocks and roots well without having super deep lugs. Outsole has good grip on our terrain here in Western NY. What I like: Great ground feel but with adequate cushion for long runs. I've not had any of the previous SR so I can not compare to those. Western New York November 11th, 2021Ĭomments: I'll start out by saying I really like the SR4. I guess there are no perfect shoes out there anymore now that the Ultra Pro is gone.įrom: John. If this was a star rating system I would give it a solid 4 stars. Oh yeah, and they take a long time to dry when soaked through. Overall a nice agile shoe that works well for long, short, easy and technical runs, but needs a bit more underfoot protection to be perfect. Great ground feel and traction with just enough cushion but really needs a rockplate for some of our sharp, shale-covered trails in the Fingerlakes area. It points the wrong way and is difficult to use unlike the now discontinued Ultra Pros. Not a huge fan of the lacing system, particularly the lace "garage". Has nice locked-down feel without causing pain across the top of my foot like some shoes do. I don't like the Salomon laces they don't hold if you tighten them.Ĭomments: Good shoe with nice fit for my skinny, bony ankles. I kinda like them for walking or wearing to work but after 3 runs I doubt I'll run in them again. They're pretty good as shoes but they're not much for running, very limited cushioning, and a long way from the excellent trail running shoe that also works well on transition or hard surfaces.

Comments: These shoes get a lot of great reviews online for trail running but I don't see it.
